poor data transfer facility

Your post isn't clear about what you're attempting to do, so I'm reading between the lines, to guess that you'd like a simple, wired-USB connection between your desltop PC and your Omni 10 tablet. Since they're both "host" devices, they won't be able to "talk" to each other without some additional technology — typically referred to as a "USB Transfer Cable" —  often found on sale for less-than $20. (Since  H-P is sponsoring this forum, it would be impolite for me to tell you which competing tablet manufacturer currently has 2 such devices currently on sale...). In addition, you will need an adapter to convert the micro-USB port on your tablet to a full-size female connector. (Imo, the best style is a short flexible cable with appropriate M/F connectors on either end; many of these adapters have a 90° elbow on the micro end, which could conflict with either of the adjacent ports on your tablet; look for an adapter that has a straight connector on the micro end, and avoid a one-piece, rigid plastic adapter which makes the tablet's USB port more-susceptible to damage thru accidental bumps and tugs.)

Also, since you referred to a "mini USB hub" in connection with your goal of transferring data, I suspect you may not appreciate the roles of a USB hub in connecting USB devices to a "host" computer; think of a USB Hub as a funnel, which can channel data flow to/from multiple USB devices into a single port on a host computer. Another important consideration when connecting USB devices to a tablet, is most tablets can only supply a tiny amount of power to any attached device, so 'most any device besides a USB stick will need some source of power other than from the tablet — either from its own AC adapter, or thru connecting to a "powered" USB Hub. In many instances, a powered hub may be required when connecting even a single device, like a portable hard drive, scanner, DVD player, some smartphones, etc. — any one of which might require more power than your Omni 10 is capable of supplying.

I hope that I correctly understood what you're attempting to accomplish, and that I've provided enough details to help you get there...

Good luck!
